butnIn this video Dr Sadaqat Ali speaks about ill founded beliefs on the psychological problems. Dr Sadaqat Ali is a renowned addiction psychiatrist and project director of Willing Ways Pakistan

When people encounter sever psychological problems, most of them seek help from people who claim that they can control spirits. They disguise themselves as religious personalities and take advantage of others. There is no criterion or any form of registration that give the rights to practice. There is no such thing as magic or possession of spirits. It represents the weakness of minds. Further, lack of knowledge about scientific and even religious concept contributes to social stigmas that only lead to dilemmas, also make illness worse. These misbelieves work as anchors and make life difficult. People confuse psychotic disorders like bi-polar disorder, schizophrenia and hysteria with possession of evil spirits.

Usually when people feel like they are drowning or hitting the bottom, they contact doctors and mental health professionals. There is a need to understand that if anti-psychotic pills or injection can provide relief to the suffering individual, it cannot be a spirits.

Ideas of spirits lie in the historical theories. In our daily life, almost all of us use scientific inventions for our convenience. Nowadays people are living scientific lives where cell phone, cars, airplanes, internet and the whole media has improved the quality of life. In contrast, resisting to scientific treatment is not wise. Individuals receive/inherit ideas and certain believe from ancestors or culture. It is our responsibility to assess them through scientific approaches. Science and even religion also promotes the idea of cause- effect\causal relation.

After watching cricket, usually people change their behavior when their favorite team loses. They don’t eat, don’t meet others or don’t watch TV. These behaviors are the part of grief recovery process. Dr Sadaqat indicates that only 4-20% people in society play significant role. Most of the significant people or achievers are cyclothymiacs, who face mood issues. Whenever they go through stress, one important factor they should allow in their life is to drink water. Water intake helps to release toxins from body. Furthermore, sleep is an essential factor. Players do not feel good when they lack sleep which leads to bad performance. Moreover diet, starving whole day and eating a lot later only aggravates the stress. In addition, ignoring need of the body to rest leads to further problems.

In order to get relief from stress sharing can also be helpful. Holding onto pain will allow it to grow. Focusing on personal care and involving in physical activity will also help to cope. Certain life conditions like rejection from parents, absence of a parent or perception of individual as high achievers contributes to unconscious attachment of low self esteem to that condition. There are some other factors like emotional disturbance, hopelessness or need for affiliation, which lead to stressful relations.

Dr.Sadaqat Ali talks about Anger Management

In many cases, anger becomes an addiction when a person starts using it for his undue advantage.

[KGVID]http://videos.willingways.org/wp-content/uploads/2016/04/Anger-management-1.mp4[/KGVID]

In this video Dr. Sadaqat Ali talks about Anger Management. Dr. Sadaqat Ali is a renowned addiction psychiatrist and project director of Willing Ways Pakistan.

Anger is a natural, honest, and a healthy emotion which is supposed to be expressed wisely. But once it turns into rage or chronicity, things become problematic. Chronic anger can be inherited in genes from one’s parents or family. Excessive anger weakens the heart and has the tendency to give rise to other life threatening illnesses like hypertension and cardiovascular complications. In many cases, anger becomes an addiction when a person starts using it for his undue advantage. In case of drug use, we can see the amplified anger, hence the overreactions.

Facts and beliefs are two different things. When beliefs are taken as facts, it is then when misunderstandings and false expectations arise, and such episodes can end up in anger. Four components/indicators of anger to be checked include one’s body language, facial expressions, voice tone, and choice of words at peak moment. We teach others how to treat us. One should address the misbehavior by other person and move on after giving it a closure. The surging energy in anger should be channelized in doing something constructive. Deep breathing and relaxation exercises help. Practicing sense of humor is a good idea for sharing light moments among each other. Control anger by being mindful and keeping undue stress at bay.

Dr.Sadaqat Ali talks about ill will in Relations

To tame the wolf of hate, it’s important to get a handle on “ill will” – irritated, resentful, and angry feelings and intentions toward others.

[KGVID]http://videos.willingways.org/wp-content/uploads/2016/04/Dr-Sadaqat-Ali-talks-about-ill-will-in-Relations.mp4[/KGVID]

This video of Dr.Sadaqat Ali contains information on “ill will in a relationship”. Dr Sadaqat Ali is a renowned addiction psychiatrist and project director of Willing Ways Pakistan.

Avoiding ill will does not mean passivity, allowing yourself or others to be exploited, staying silent in the face of injustice, etc. There is plenty of room for speaking truth to power and effective action without succumbing to ill will. In fact, with a clear mind and a peaceful heart, your actions are likely to be more effective. To tame the wolf of hate, it’s important to get a handle on “ill will” – irritated, resentful, and angry feelings and intentions toward others. While it may seem justified in the moment, ill will harms you probably more than it harms others. In another metaphor, having ill will toward others is like throwing hot coals with bare hands: both people get burned. Try to defuse them early: get rest, have a meal, get support, talk things out, distract yourself, etc. Let go of the view that things are supposed to be a certain way. Challenge the belief that things should work out, that the world is perfectible. Speak (skillfully) for yourself, regardless of what the outcome may be. If appropriate, name your experience to release it; feel it as you speak it. Try to address the situation with openness and empathy for the other person. Then you’ll be freer and calmer to be more skillful.

Dr. Sadaqat Ali talks about Runaways

Runaways usually end up in double jeopardy due to the menace of drug abuse. Children easily fall prey to this menace. They could also plunge into certain immoral and criminal acts.

[KGVID]http://videos.willingways.org/wp-content/uploads/2016/04/Dr.-Sadaqat-Alis-Expert-Opinion-on-Runaways-on-DAWN-NEWS-The-First-Blast-Part-1-Low-360p.mp4[/KGVID]

This video of Dr.Sadaqat Ali contains information on “Runaways”. Dr Sadaqat Ali is a renowned addiction psychiatrist and project director of Willing Ways Pakistan.

Statistics show that 1 out of 6 individuals, runaways from home. This mostly includes teenagers, adults, wives, or either of the family members. Males are more prone to runaway than women. Women are less likely to return after a runaway than men. This is usually because of the toxicity of people. Toxic people are inadequate, and exploitative, and keep causing pain for others. Parents, grandparents, or spouses could inadvertently turn out to be toxic.

Dr. Sadaqat holds certain biological/environmental reasons responsible for runaways. Drug abuse is the most common cause, followed by verbal/physical abuse. Apart from apparent runaways, there are runaways in disguise too, including frequent job switches, children being to boarding schools, and wives visiting and staying at their parents’ house. Runaways usually end up in double jeopardy due to the menace of drug abuse. Children easily fall prey to this menace. They could also plunge into certain immoral and criminal acts.

Parents should strategize with professionals. Runaway has 3 phases: Blast (in which a person runaways), Return (person is welcomed back) and Blast again (person runs away again). A runaway is at his weakest in 2nd phase. Parents should make the most of it to intervene and interrupt the runaway by assertive interaction, empathic listening, and filling the communication gap.
