In this video Dr Sadaqat Ali talks about different means by which we can manage the stress in our lives. It is relatively very easy to manage stress at the very initial stages but when the problem aggravates we need to take big measures. Three possible manners in which we can mange stress are the following. We can drink plenty of water by ourselves or we can ask someone to give us water whenever we are under the influence of emotions. The other way to manage stress is to move from that place where your emotions are high or you can take a bath. Third most effective strategy is to change your clothes which will give you a fresh look and mind to think.

Mindfulness is also an effective tool. By remaining mindful we become conscious of our voice tone under such situations.  It is very necessary that we first try to understand the situation and then take necessary steps to be understood. Thinking before speaking, slowing down the pitch of your voice can do miracles but if all this does not work you can simply take a safe exit. You can tell the other person that right now you are under the influence of emotions and you want to talk on the issue some time later.

Dr. Sadaqat Ali talks about benefits of lifelong learning

[KGVID]http://videos.willingways.org/wp-content/uploads/2016/07/video.mp4[/KGVID]

butnIn this video Dr. Sadaqat Ali sheds light on the benefits of lifelong learning. Dr. Sadaqat Ali is a renowned addiction psychiatrist and project director of Willing Ways Pakistan.

Rapidly evolving society has changed the way people used to treat each other. Nowadays, people care less about high morals and more about getting what they want by hook or by crook, and in doing so, they don’t hesitate in stepping on to those around them. We need to adapt to change with time and be cautious in defending our rights.

Universal principles like “Honesty is the best policy” works for us, and we should apply it on ourselves. However, we can’t expect everyone to be honest these days. So beware what’s happening to you and don’t allow anyone to use/manipulate you.

We should not take our life positives for granted. Reward and reinforce them instead.  Surround yourself with positive people. We should also strive to lighten up the dark aspects of our life. Remove and filter out the negative people. Counter their insidious acts by paying attention to your instinct/gut feeling.

Come out of the denial and embrace the reality. Always keep learning. Learn about people’s behavior. Know what triggers/stimulates the actions of other people. Make best use of technology to gather knowledge. Knowledge is power.

Dr. Sadaqat Ali talks about anger management

Anger is a natural response to feeling attacked, deceived, frustrated or treated unfairly. Everyone gets angry sometimes – it’s part of being human. It isn’t always a ‘bad’ emotion; in fact it can sometimes be useful. Anger is a completely normal, usually healthy, human emotion. But when it gets out of control and turns destructive, it can lead to problems—problems at work, in your personal relationships, and in the overall quality of your life. And it can make you feel as though you’re at the mercy of an unpredictable and powerful emotion. Anger is the most important emotion you have. When you’re angry, it’s a red flag that something needs to change, and when you’re extremely angry, something needs to change right now. Start with a new habit that is “begin with end in mind”. Take responsibility of the consequences of your actions. Anger can also be genetic. If you’re in a situation where dealing with your anger immediately isn’t an option, inhale deeply. As you exhale, count to ten or repeat a phrase that helps you relax.

Dr. Sadaqat Ali talks about reasons behind a runaway

[KGVID]http://videos.willingways.org/wp-content/uploads/2016/07/Runaways.mp4[/KGVID]

butnThis video of Dr.Sadaqat Ali contains information on “Runaways”. Dr Sadaqat Ali is a renowned addiction psychiatrist and project director of Willing Ways Pakistan.

Statistics show that 1 out of 6 individuals, runaways from home. This mostly includes teenagers, adults, wives, or either of the family members. Males are more prone to runaway than women. Women are less likely to return after a runaway than men. This is usually because of the toxicity of people. Toxic people are inadequate, and exploitative, and keep causing pain for others. Parents, grandparents, or spouses could inadvertently turn out to be toxic.

Dr. Sadaqat holds certain biological/environmental reasons responsible for runaways. Drug abuse is the most common cause, followed by verbal/physical abuse. Apart from apparent runaways, there are runaways in disguise too, including frequent job switches, children being to boarding schools, and wives visiting and staying at their parents’ house. Runaways usually end up in double jeopardy due to the menace of drug abuse. Children easily fall prey to this menace. They could also plunge into certain immoral and criminal acts.

Parents should strategize with professionals. Runaway has 3 phases: Blast (in which a person runaways), Return (person is welcomed back) and Blast again (person runs away again). A runaway is at his weakest in 2nd phase. Parents should make the most of it to intervene and interrupt the runaway by assertive interaction, empathic listening, and filling the communication gap.

Dr. Sadaqat Ali talks about why “being too nice” is disadvantageous

[KGVID]http://videos.willingways.org/wp-content/uploads/2016/07/Dr-Sadaqat-Ali-talks-about-importance-of-rewards.mp4[/KGVID]

butnThis video of Dr. Sadaqat Ali contains information on “Stress Management”. Dr Sadaqat Ali is a renowned addiction psychiatrist and project director of Willing Ways Pakistan.

Our culture promotes the notion that if you show more tolerance towards others specially your family and if you go out of your way to help others you are considered to be a ‘nice person’. In earlier times, in order to survive, the man needed to adopt some behaviour. Today, we do not need these behaviours. At that time, there was no concept of systems, governments or departments.

There was no system in the world. There was no help available for people or to seek treatment, education or justice. But today, there is a system present. The world has changed in a beautiful way which is why it is not applicable to practice ‘nice behaviour’. In order to make ourselves feel good we harm others. Countries harm other countries. Without doing anything, you feel good about yourself and you are rewarded thus these behaviours are reinforced and increase. Any kind of reward that is gotten without hard work is not effective since rewards need to be earned.

Dr. Sadaqat Ali talks about causes of suicide

[KGVID]http://videos.willingways.org/wp-content/uploads/2016/07/Dr-Sadaqat-Ali-talks-about-Suicide-Prevention-on-Neo-Pakistan.mp4[/KGVID]

butnIn this video Dr. Sadaqat Ali extensively talks about Suicide prevention. There is another video on the same topic titled Dr. Sadaqat Ali talks about suicide prevention. Dr. Sadaqat Ali is a renowned addiction psychiatrist and project director of Willing Ways Pakistan.

Fundamental reason behind suicides is mood disturbance which eventually leads to mood disorder, depression or bipolar depression. This disorder can be caused by external as well as internal factors. External influence comes from environmental stressors whereas internal comes from physiological changes. Basic cause of suicide is the internal state of depression that overwhelms the human mind. But there are numerous other factors that contribute to suicides such as poor physiological health, lack of interaction, lack of reliance or friends, feeling of isolation and weak or no spiritual connection. Even most of the wealthy countries like Denmark have high rate of suicides. But in contrast, Africa have low suicidal rate. Because suicide also relates to weather and weather relates to our mood. Particularly cold weather and lack of exposure to sun light leads to depression.

Apparently, most of the teenagers commit suicide because of academic or parental pressure but there is some record of indicators such as rejection, blame, and low self worth. So, parents and teachers can learn to motivate children towards education and promote it as an interesting process. There is a need to understand that suicide is not a sudden action whether it is a final result of a gradual process of mood disturbances. Nowadays, youngsters use different drugs to elevate their mood. But drugs give them short-term pleasure and long-term pain. It increases dependency and mood issues which further accompany suicidal thoughts. Suicides are most common among the drug addicts all around the world.

In order to manage mood, we can focus on four basic factors. First is to manage good sleep, complete 8 hours sleep at night for good start. Second is exercise, it produces certain chemicals in body to keep our mood positive. Simply a walk or aerobics exercise can lift our mood. Third is to schedule diet, as it acts as fuel for our mind and body. 5 short meals a day can help to maintain required energy levels. Last important factor is relationships. Individuals learn from surroundings to behave rudely which aggravates by enabling of others and cause conflicts. If we take care of our relations we actually manage our mood.
