Thus the need is to remain focused and define your goals (begin with the end in mind). Indicating the facts relating to cigarette smoking, Dr Sadaqat shares that cigarette is the only quick acting anti – depressant and is the most resistant kind of an addiction. On answering a question Dr Sadaqat indicates how after the breakup, in our brain, drug acts as a substitute of someone’s love. Drug, love affairs, breakup is a common type of a triangle observed at the university level and pushes the excess use of drugs because of the fact that drugs is not a substitute of love addiction but love addiction is it’s substitute.

Dr Sadaqat says that there should be an alignment among the goals. For that if there are three goals than the need is to define the wildly important goal. It is that type of a goal that carries significant important at a certain time period.  If the Wildly Important Goal is not acquired, it than has a domino insignificant effect on other goals achieved.

Talking about the wiser advocate vs. the stubborn self, Dr Sadaqat highlights the importance of nurturing the wiser advocate. Maintaining good relationships is an important asset that should be regularly kept in consideration and thus highlights the importance of ‘Law of harvest’ and its application in context of personal development. At the end Dr Sadaqat emphasizes the importance of nurturing mental health.

Dr. sadaqat Ali talks about the role of emotions in crucial conversation

[KGVID]http://videos.willingways.org/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/2016-11-20-sunday-session.mp4[/KGVID]
In this video Dr. Sadaqat Ali talks about crucial conversation. Dr. Sadaqat Ali is a renowned addiction psychiatrist and project director of Willing Ways Pakistan.

We all have an inner voice that tells us when we need to have a difficult conversation with someone. For the past few years, respect for emotions has been given an enormous importance and Crucial Conversation emphasizes on emotions. We cannot force anyone to agree to our point of view but we should respect other’s opinion. Taking care of others as well as own emotions is important. It’s difficult to change other person but easier to change our own being. So the first principle of dialogue is to start with ourselves. Start with self talk and watch your vocabulary. Avoid using inappropriate words in your conversations.

Create safety for your own life as well as for others. Safety can be created showing respect to others even they have difference of opinion. We can ensure safety by attacking, labeling, and controlling others but it is not an appropriate way. Every crucial conversation comprises of three important parts, difference of opinion, high emotions and high stakes. In crucial conversation, we should be very careful about both verbal and non verbal component. Use logics, negotiations, decent vocabulary to make a crucial conversation successful. It’s important to work on resentments and the negative baggage from past because that can sabotage a crucial conversation. It’s also very important to show tolerance during conversation while expressing our emotions. Tolerance means respecting people who have different opinion or beliefs from yours. If you have the ability to tolerate you can go a very long way with it unlike endurance which has its limits. If you can learn to speak up in these crucial moments effectively, then you can accomplish the results you are after.

Dr. Sadaqat Ali talks about students falling in love, broken hearts and drug abuse

[KGVID]http://videos.willingways.org/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/ww.mp4[/KGVID]
In this video Dr. Sadaqat Ali talks about students falling in love, broken hearts and drug abuse. Dr. Sadaqat Ali is a renowned addiction psychiatrist and project director of Willing Ways Pakistan.

In this video Dr Sadaqat Ali shares the fact that the type of love we do with the celebrities is because of a certain quality that he/she posses’. However if we look into the neurological or biological love it is due to hormones and neurotransmitters. In this process the dopamine level rises up making the person feel good. Interestingly the biological changes that takes place during the love process is exactly the same as in drug addiction, addictive behaviours, screen addiction, gambling and many alike while giving the same level of rise in the dopamine levels.

The high rise in the dopamine levels in brain results in addictive behaviours which generates unmanageability in life. When the process of breakup takes place the very natural replacement at this very special instance is to fall prey to the vicious cycle of drug addiction. The most appropriate step at this stage is to ask for help by contacting a counselor. Dr Sadaqat indicates that when you opt for love than don’t be possessive. Love what your partner likes and admire your spouse for who he/she is and the skills and abilities they posses.

According to her the parents need to commit to moment – to – moment basis which means that one needs to reflect to one’s unfinished self. What does it mean to have an unfinished self? Well it means that reflecting your unresolved issues into your child. For example seeing your child not performing well at studies brings you a thought of what will be his/her future? A same anxiety we feel every moment. The task of an awakened parent at this very special moment is to choose one from the two choices: Do we go inward or we reflect it outward by control and reactivity and hence the task 1. The second task is to control the conditions at your home which means that if you see you child connected to the screen, detach him from it by letting him know that you might be angry but it’s not good for you.

Dr. Sadaqat Ali talks about tolerance despite our cultural differences

In this video Dr. Sadaqat Ali talks about tolerance despite our cultural differences. Dr. Sadaqat Ali is a renowned addiction psychiatrist and project director of Willing Ways Pakistan.

On the International World Tolerance Day, Dr Sadaqat Ali talks about, what tolerance is and what vital role it plays at an individual as well as societal level. Dr Sadaqat indicates that one of the important ingredients of tolerance is to communicate and develop good relationship with those people who differ in cast, creed, religion, gender, nationality, social status, education, ideology, physical appearance or someone with physical disability.  This is also known as social intelligence, however more commonly we call it tolerance. Unfortunately in our society tolerance is surrogated with endurance which is not right. The very basic difference between the two is that, endurance is limited whereas tolerance is unlimited. Developing the skill of accepting the difference and fulfilling the criteria of respecting other is what builds tolerance. On the other end Dr. Sadaqat defines intolerance as to stop communicating with someone, not socializing or defining something as taboo, hence making it difficult to talk about. This results in counterproductive outcome.

The need is to address the point of concerns on regular basis; this brings us to the very important ingredient called ‘communication’. Communication is an art that requires learning and if we further look into it we will come across the negotiation skills. These skills carry much more importance because these are applied when stakes are high, opinions vary and emotions run strong. Dr Sadaqat Ali wrap ups the talk by highlighting the importance of respecting others with different point of view and not being judgmental towards others.

Dr. Sadaqat Ali talks about how validation of emotions during conversation bridges the gap

In this video Dr. Sadaqat Ali talks about how validation of emotions during conversation bridge’s the gap. Dr. Sadaqat Ali is a renowned addiction psychiatrist and project director of Willing Ways Pakistan.

Every single human can be influenced by emotions. And emotional pain often leads to relationship problems, marital conflicts, business losses and even causes suicides. In order to satisfy our emotions, we all seek validation and it is considered to be a universal phenomenon. Most people express this need in daily routine by saying “am I right?” or “is it okay?” On the other hand, some just express it by their body language or non-verbal gestures. Validation means to acknowledge and understand emotions.

Usually people negate the feelings of others by interrupting or snubbing them, although it is important to nurture our intimate relations. In this regard, it is essential to learn the concept of validation. This concept is based on six simple principals. 1) Be an effective validator by comprehending empathy. 2) leave the responsibility where it belongs by knowing how and when to help. 3) Acknowledge and understand emotions. 4) Develop the skill of listening that includes nodding, maintaining eye contact, appropriate body language. 5) Find the right time to teach by not giving advices rather allowing the freedom of choice and 6) Use effective phrases, like “oh”, “hmm”, “then what happened?”, “I understand”, because it allows the other person to share feelings without hesitation. Validation’s principle proposes to first listen to the content, than listen to feelings, than listen to the needs being expressed and at last understand the situation by putting yourself in other’s shoe.

Dr. Sadaqat Ali talks about drug addiction among youth

[KGVID]http://videos.willingways.org/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/drug-addiction-in-youth.mp4[/KGVID]
In this video Dr. Sadaqat Ali talks about drug addiction among youth. Dr. Sadaqat Ali is a renowned addiction psychiatrist and project director of Willing Ways Pakistan.

Substance use is common among university going students. Some of these users fall prey to addiction. Drug usage has taken educational institutions across the country by storm. Many students who use drugs get caught up in the problem of addiction. Students are usually pushed by their parents to excel in the sphere of academics but they are never taught the problem solving or executive skills needed to achieve this feat. Very little attention is given towards making adolescents learn how to manage their mood and emotions. To escape from stressors, using substances is their way of self medicating in order to feel better. People who use substances are sick people who to get help and find an appropriate way of coping with their problems.

To solve this problem, the first step is to develop appropriate communication skills. We can do this by using ‘process intervention’ for those family members with whom we have difficulty communicating. Loved ones may deceive themselves when it comes to addiction which is called denial. If an individual’s home, school and social setting is getting affected then there is a problem. Addiction is found in every socioeconomic status because mood and personality disorders exist in every class.

Teach your child appropriate executive skills and to be around healthy drug free people.

Dr. Sadaqat Ali talks about how politicians should be competent & not corrupt

[KGVID]http://videos.willingways.org/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/current-political-situation.mp4[/KGVID]
In this video Dr. Sadaqat Ali talks about how politicians should be competent & not corrupt. Dr. Sadaqat Ali is a renowned addiction psychiatrist and project director of Willing Ways Pakistan.

In this video Dr. Sadaqat very precisely talked about the factors which need to be taken care off while choosing a leader or while standing as a nation’s leader. Not only education but physical and psychological fitness is also required to beat the other party. Staying under control while emotions are high and ability to look in to the future, these are all very precise factors to be considered. The political correctness now depends on different factors and one of them is the use of logical approach.

The trend of use of emotions only in the politics is now outdated, even though it carries a lot of influence which can sustain only for short term. People respect and follow the logical approach, which is more sustainable and productive in their lives.

It’s obvious being humans we are over concerned with safety and any situation that cause a bit of uncertainty can indulge us into anxiety and we do self defeating strategies. So here we should effectively handle our anxiety and we should explore some logical solutions to fix our problems. Government needs to validate the views of the opponents with great patience. They should use the power in a right direction by remembering that the opponents are also Pakistani. On the other side, opposition should also show flexibility with government.
