Q & A : Dr. Sadaqat Ali Live on 13 Jan 2017

Talking about the parent child relationship, Dr Sadaqat Ali indicates that from birth till the 7 years of age, these years are called the formative years which have long lasting effects in the life ahead. So it is recommended to start preparing children in these formative years. He indicates that when it comes to disciplining the child both parents should be on the same platform. Talking about the parenting myths, Dr Sadaqat indicates that parent’s think that our child cannot fall prey to drugs; those are some other children who undergo such activities. It is important to understand the every child is prone to it and parents need to talk upfront to the children well before time. Later in the video Dr Sadaqat highlights the application of toughness and tenderness especially in light of parenting. Also he speaks about learning moments and teaching moments, what they are and how to get most out of it.
While answering a question from the online audience about how to motivate a drug addict to get into treatment, Dr Sadaqat replies that a drug addict should never be negotiated upon any terms and condition over their treatment. This does not result fruitful rather what is required at the first instance is to let them face the pains caused by their drug addiction. This motivates them to get treatment for themselves. The family should communicate that they will only help in the treatment not in other matters.
Again answering the query of how to deal with guilt, Dr Sadaqat provides a simple solution of ‘Maafi, Talafi and Azafi’ which means to being sorry at first instance, than provide with the best possible at that every moment and lastly indicating of something as a gesture of compensation for future’ Later in the video Dr Sadaqat Ali talks about cravings and its management.
Dr Sadaqat also talks about what co dependency is and how we need to look into future which helps making our present better. Trial and error and learning from it helps make things better. Taking help from an environment is beneficial too.
